CI-600 Root Scanner
for Root Monitoring

600 Root Scanner
Root Scanner

The CI-600 Root Scanner is designed to scan living roots in the soil. It consists of a rotating linear scan head, a notebook computer and clear Plexiglas tubes. Users need to install the tube into the desired locations in the soil. To obtain an image, insert the scan head into the tube, start the scanning program on the computer. The scan head will automatically rotate a full circle creating a full circle (21.59 × 19.56 cm) image of the soil and roots. Users can move the scan head to different depths to scan different sections of the soil profile. The system is designed for ease of use and carry and can be quickly moved from tube to tube.
The scanned color image is displayed on the laptop screen as it is created. Because of the scanner’s ability for super high resolution, users are able to see detailed root structure and small soil particles. The image is linear and non-distorted. The images scanned by the CI-600 system can be analyzed by varieties of software. The software also allows the users to zoom in on any area of the image to see the details
